Allianz Global Investors (AGI) is one of largest asset managers in the world and owns fixed income specialist PIMCO. As CEO for AGI Capital, one of the companies of Allianz Global Investors, Whittington is responsible for overseeing all business and investment functions within the firm.
Until the end of March 2011, Whittington was also COO of the parent company – a role she had held since 2002 – so she has an intimate knowledge of the global parent. However, with the imminent departure of the parent company’s CEO at the end of the year, the firm is going through a period of change. Jay Ralph, CEO of Allianz Re, has already taken over Whittington’s role as COO of Allianz and will succeed Faber as CEO of Allianz Global Investors at the end of the year.
