Euroclear has appointed Marc Antoine Autheman as chairman of the Euroclear plc and Euroclear SA/NV boards, replacing Sir Nigel Wicks who will retire in January 2013.
Autheman will become deputy chairman of both Euroclear boards immediately, a position he will share with Jean-Jacques Verdickt.
Autheman noted that there will “undoubtedly be challenging times ahead” but that he has confidence in Euroclear to provide a “satisfactory outcome” for the group’s shareholders and customers.
Euroclear describes Autheman as a senior independent advisor to financial institutions who has worked for the International Monetary Fund and World Bank as well as Credit Agricole and Caisse des Depots. He has also held senior positions with the French Ministry of Economy and Finance, and with the French Treasury.
He is also chairman of the board of two investment companies, Third Point Offshore Investors Ltf and Cube Infrastructure Fund.
