State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) has appointed Howard Kearns as senior strategist to boost its investment solutions group, which specialises in liability-driven investment strategies.
SSgA has already expanded its investment solutions group's business by launching 32 LDI funds this year, to complement the 10 that were already available.
"We are committed to strengthening our proposition, and Howard's appointment supports this strategy. He brings a wealth of experience and will be a strong addition to the team," said head of European strategy and research at SSgA, Raymond Haines.
Kearns has previously been responsible for creating solutions for the pensions and insurance markets, with Nomura, Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs. In recent years he has focused on longevity hedging and the pension buy-in market, as well as asset liability management structuring. He began his career at Watson Wyatt working in both the pensions and investment practices.
State Street has also added Max Scharl, portfolio manager LDI structuring, to the investment solutions group. Scharl joins from the SSgA's risk analysis division, where he was investment risk analyst for fixed income in Emea. Both Kearns and Scharl will report to Haines.
