15 August 2013
New York-based trader makes three key promotions
Oppenheimer & Co has named Doron Barness as head of New York institutional equity sales trading.
Barness joined the asset manager from Goldman Sachs earlier this year as managing director and senior sales trader, working across a number of institutional client accounts.
John Hellier, head of equity capital markets at Oppenheimer, said: “We expect Doron’s insight, energy and experience to have a transformative influence on Oppenheimer’s trading desk in this senior capacity as we seek to expand our institutional market share.
“He is ideally positioned to continue the evolution of our business in the face of the ever changing nature of equity trading on Wall Street.”
The firm also made several promotions in its equity trading department, naming David Laufer and Anthony Mazzella as co-heads of cash equity trading.
Laufer joined Oppenheimer in 2012 as a senior technology, media and telecommunications trader on the firm's cash equity desk, while co-head Mazzella, has spent almost two decades at Oppenheimer.
