Geoffrey Shaw joins from Aviva
BlackRock has appointed Geoffrey Shaw as portfolio manager for its UK Long Lease Property Fund.
Shaw joins from Aviva Investors, where he was assistant fund manager of the Lime Property Fund for the past six years.
Marcus Sperber, head of real estate, BlackRock Emea, said, “Geoffrey will play a leading role in driving forward the fund which demonstrates our commitment to the real estate sector and our expertise across a range of alternative assets.”
The UK Long Lease Property Fund is designed to provide long-term inflation-linked income streams for institutional investors. It has funds funder management of £250m from six pension funds, more than £100m of which has already been invested. The average lease term of the existing investments is 20 years.
The fund invests in UK alternative commercial long lease property assets, including student accommodation, ground leases, primary healthcare and housing associations, plus more traditional assets such as supermarkets and offices.
Shaw said: “I am delighted to be joining BlackRock to lead the already successful fund. BlackRock has a very strong reputation in real estate and has a long track record of developing solutions to meet the needs of institutional investors.”
