Ross Officer joins from HSBC
Gulf financial firm Mashreq Qatar has appointed Ross Officer as country head for Qatar.
Officer joins from HSBC, where he held senior positions in his native New Zealand, as well across the Gulf states, including Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
Officer's main task as country head will be to lead the firm's growth plans for Qatar. The firm is looking to build on its financial services capabilities, including corporate, commercial, business and retail banking, contracting, treasury and wealth management services.
John Iossifidis, head of international banking at Mashreq, said: "Ross brings a wealth of experience to Mashreq with more than 31 years in banking, 12 of which were gained working at senior management positions at leading banks across the GCC & North Africa.
“We are confident that with his excellent track record and expertise in high growth & developing markets, Ross will successfully lead Mashreq Qatar in its ambitious growth plans."
Officer said the firm's focus would be on “service excellence, state of the art products and strong investment in human capital”, with a policy of hiring Qatari Nationals, “to ensure that the organization contributes to the development of the country".
