José Almeida to join firm's board of directors
State Street Corporation has appointed José (Joe) Almeida, chairman, president and chief executive of Covidien, as a member of its board of directors.
Almeida has been with Covidien since 1995 in a variey of senior management positions, including as president of Covidien's medical devices organisation. He has been president, CEO and director of Covidien since 2011 and served as chairman of the firm's board of directors since March 2012.

Almeida also serves as a board member of Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), non-profit healthcare organisation Partners in Health, as well as being a member of the Business Roundtable.
Prior to joining Covidien, Almeida worked in senior positions at Greatbatch Technologies, Inc., American Home Products’ Acufex Microsurgical division and Johnson & Johnson’s Professional Products division.
