Pinebridge expands insurance asset mgt
PineBridge Investments has hired Stephan van Vliet as head of insurance asset management, a newly-created position.
Moving from ING, van Vliet will be based in Hong Kong but will have a global role. He will lead PineBridge’s practice in providing tailored investment solutions to insurance clients based on corporate priorities and each company’s asset and liability profiles.
He will report to David Jiang, PineBridge’s global CEO, and Rajeev Mittal, CEO of Asia.
He was head of Investments at ING Insurance Asia Pacific where he was responsible for the asset allocation of 10 Asian insurance companies. Prior to that, he was head of insurance asset management at ING Investment Management (IM) in Europe, advising and managing portfolios for ING’s European insurance companies and pension funds.

Van Vliet has held a number of roles at ING in Europe and Asia, including general manager of ING Investment Management in Milan and head of insurance asset management for ING IM Europe in The Hague.
In Hong Kong, van Vliet was director of proprietary asset management for ING Investment Management Asia-Pacific from 2005 to 2008.
He has an MBA from Bocconi University in Milan, Italy and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins University in the United States. He obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Nijenrode University in The Netherlands.
