London-based Oakley Capital Management has hired Colonial First State’s Nick Hamilton.

Currently head of institutional business at Colonial First State in Sydney, Hamilton will relocate from Australia to work in Oakley Capital Management’s retail asset management business.

The news follows the recent surprise appointment of Invesco’s Neil Woodford who joins later this year. The firm has also announced that former sales head at Invesco Perpetual Craig Newman has joined as head of retail asset management.

Prior to joining Colonial First State, Hamilton ran global equity products at Invesco Perpetual for nine years.

Newman said, “Nick brings a wealth of experience in growing assets, building businesses and leading teams. shares our vision of building a market leading asset management business of the future.”

Oakley Capital Management said it is providing the infrastructure to allow the team to manage retail and institutional clients’ money from the start of May. This transitional arrangement will provide an environment in which the team can have the autonomy and flexibility to best serve the interests of clients’ money immediately after Neil Woodford’s employment with Invesco terminates on 29th April 2014.

The firm said it will reveal details about the firm and its offering in due course but stressed that Woodford’s “unconstrained, fundamental and disciplined” approach to investing would not change.
