Neuberger Berman has expanded its global high-yield team with the appointment of Andrew Wilmont.

Wilmont will be lead European high-yield portfolio manager, based in London. The hiring coincides with the asset manager’s plans to introduce a European high-yield fund for non-US investors.

“High yield has matured into a global asset class and we’re delighted to expand our investment capabilities and the range of strategies Neuberger Berman offers to clients with an investor of Andrew’s calibre,” said Ann Benjamin, chief investment officer for non-investment grade strategies.

Wilmont will report to Benjamin.

Dik van Lomwel, head of Emea and Latin America for Neuberger Berman, said the firm is committed to building a full suite of global non-investment grade solutions for investors.

Wilmont was most recently head of European high-yield investments at Alcentra. Before that he served as head of European high-yield strategies at AXA Investment Managers.

He was previously a high-yield portfolio manager at Pareto Partners, and a high-yield credit analyst at New Flag Asset Management. He began his high-yield investment career in 1997 at Gulf International Bank.
