BNY Mellon has hired Nikos Kardassis to oversee its enterprise product management group, strategic programme management, and asset servicing product management.

Kardassis will be responsible for developing product strategy across BNY Mellon’s four main investment servicing platforms for asset owners, asset managers, insurance firms, and financial intermediaries or private banks.

"Kardassis has more than two decades of leadership and business management experience and a proven track record of driving innovative product development and profitability," said Tim Keaney, vice chairman and CEO of investment services at BNY Mellon.

Kardassis joins BNY Mellon from Indian airline Jet Airways, where he was CEO. Kardassis first joined the airline as CEO in 1994, then joined the company again in 2008, initially as head of Americas and senior advisor to the board. He became the company’s CEO for the second time in 2009.

From 2001 to 2005, Kardassis was co-head of the Merrill Lynch investments and wealth management group, and president and CEO for the Merrill Lynch insurance group.

Dan Wywoda, has also been hired to a new role leading strategic programmes, with responsibility for major and complex projects key to the growth and development of BNY Mellon's asset servicing business. He will report to Kardassis.

Wywoda was formally head of global product management for asset servicing at BNY Mellon.
