AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) appointed David Page to a new position as senior economist in its research and investment strategy team, as it seeks to strengthen its macroeconomic expertise.

Page will act as a cross-country economist, covering macro-economic and thematic research as well as market strategy and asset allocation. Extending the team’s global reach, Page will focus particularly on the US and UK economies.

“As market volatility continues and fiscal policies evolve after the crisis, insightful macroeconomic risk assessments are a crucial factor for long-term investors,” said Eric Chaney, head of research at AXA IM and chief economist at AXA Group. “Page’s appointment re-enforces our commitment to providing in-depth knowledge of economic growth trends and policies.”

Page joins AXA IM from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, where as a senior economist his responsibilities included Lloyds’ high frequency data forecasts.

Previously, he was an economist at Investec Bank where he concentrated on the UK and European economies.
