Skandia International has appointed Matthew Firman an area manager for Africa as the subsidiary of Old Mutual Wealth builds its presence in the Middle East and Africa.

Based in Dubai, Firman will visit Africa on a regular basis, significantly increasing Skandia International’s local distribution support and focusing on developing relationships with Old Mutual Africa, local IFAs and banks.

“Matthew’s appointment will help re-enforce our presence in Africa and help us achieve our ambitious growth plans in the region. The growth potential in the area is significant,” said Brendan Dolan, head of the Middle East and Africa region at Skandia International.

Matthew joins from Friends Provident International where he was senior regional sales manager for Africa. Prior to this, he held sales roles at Metlife Europe and The Hartford Life.
