Rowan Dartington has appointed John Betteridge, the former chief investment officer for Prudential UK’s insurance division, as non-executive director.

He will also be the chairman of the wealth manager’s asset allocation committee.

“We have got to know Betteridge over the last few months, and he is a great fit for our culture and values, as well as bringing an exceptional track record of truly strategic investment oversight," said Graham Coxell, executive chairman of Rowan Dartington.

"Betteridge coming on board is another example of how far we have come as a business over the last three years."

As chief investment officer Betteridge had oversight of assets in excess of £150bn ($247bn). His responsibilities included the high-level investment strategy and monitoring and control of assets across Prudential’s with-profit, annuity, unit-linked and collective schemes.

In addition to this, he managed the investment management business PMG within Prudential, leading a team of economists, portfolio managers, quantitative analysts and actuaries.
