AXA IM expands Asia fixed-income team
AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has appointed Honyu Fung as senior portfolio manager and Jason Pang as portfolio manager within its Asia fixed-income team.
Fung will be responsible for managing key client portfolios and providing credit sector coverage. Pang will be responsible for managing fixed-income portfolios and providing bottom up credit analysis on Asian fixed-income issuers. Based in Hong Kong, Fung and Pang will report to Jim Veneau, head of fixed income Asia.
“Fung and Pang are strong additions to our fixed-income team, and bring extensive experience and valuable knowledge in Asian fund management and research. As a business we continue to see increasing demand for Asian fixed income product from our global client base,” said Veneau.
Before joining AXA IM, Fung spent more than 11 years at HSBC Global Asset Management where he held the role of associate director for Hong Kong, overseeing Asian fixed-income mandates.
Pang was a senior Asian fixed-income investment manager at HSBC Global Asset Management in Hong Kong. He also worked within the wealth management distribution team at UBS Global Asset Management in Hong Kong, where he was promoted to the position of portfolio Asian fixed-income manager.
AXA IM has steadily grown its Asia fixed-income team over the last 12 months with the appointments of Veneau in 2014 and portfolio manager Christy Lee in early 2014.
“Asia is a key market for AXA IM and these new hires bear testament to our commitment to Asia and our intention to continue to invest in our capabilities in the region,” said Simon Flood, head of AXA IM Asia Pacific.
“We have boosted our presence in the Asian fixed-income market with a number of key hires over the last year,” said Chris Iggo, chief investment officer and head of fixed-income Europe and Asia. “This is an experienced team in local Asian markets and I look forward to the contribution to growth it will make in our Asian business going forward.”
