Standard Life Investments made made two new appointments to its European Equities team.

Tom Dorner joins as investment director, responsible for analysing a number of sectors including insurance companies. 

Jonathan Fearon has joined to manage the European Equity Growth Fund along with the European equity component of the Global Advantage Fund, while analysing the European banking sector.

Stan Pearson, head of European equities at Standard Life Investments, said: “These senior appointments will strengthen the European Equities team, reflecting further investment in our capabilities to help us continue to achieve strong performance and returns for our clients.”

Based in Edinburgh, Dorner joins the company from Citigroup, where he was director of the European insurance sector. Before that he held posts at Oriel Securities, Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital. 

Fearon was previously at Ignis Asset Management where he managed two European equity funds.

Both will report directly to Will James, portfolio manager of the Standard Life Investments European Equity Income Fund.
