Man Group has appointed John Cryan to the board as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Cryan held a number of senior roles at UBS over a career spanning more than 25 years with the banking group including serving as group chief financial officer between 2008 and 2011. 

Cryan was also chairman and CEO of UBS AG Emea between 2010 and 2011 and served as CEO of UBS Ltd, the bank’s principal operating entity in the EU over the same period.

"He is an experienced leader in our sector, having worked at the top of the financial services industry through one of the most challenging periods in recent history, and will be a highly valued adviser to our executive team.”

Between 2012 and 2014 Cryan was president of Temasek International‘s European operations.

In addition to the expertise gained in executive roles, Cryan brings  experience from his non-executive positions. He is currently a member of the supervisory board of Deutsche Bank, chairman of Deutsche Bank’s audit committee and a member of the Bank’s risk committee. 

He is also chairman of ST Asset Management Pte, a specialised structured credit investment manager, a member of the board of Tana Africa Capital and an advisory senior director for Temasek Europe.
