Markit's set of exchange traded funds (ETF) data and analytics is newly available to users of the FactSet workstation.

Through this partnership, Markit becomes the primary source of ETF data to FactSet providing customers with a comprehensive view of over 5,000 global ETFs, issued by more than 200 global providers and trading across 60 exchanges.

“We are pleased that our customers can now unlock the full potential of our comprehensive ETF data and analytics within their FactSet workflow. This will help them navigate the fragmented ETF market, manage risk and make more informed investment decisions,” said Mark Schaedel, managing director and global head of equity & index data services at Markit.

Markit’s ETF content enables FactSet users to assess ETF performance, tracking risk and liquidity. The data and analytics are accessible through three core FactSet functions: universal screening, which compares ETF funds based on key attributes at the constituent level; a snapshot report, which provides a comprehensive fund profile; and FactSet portfolio analysis, which is used by asset managers to assess fund holdings on an absolute or relative basis versus their peers or benchmark.

“The integration of the Markit ETF suite of data within portfolio analysis, universal screening and our core workstation adds to the breadth of content available to asset managers who rely on our industry leading tools. Now our clients will be able to assess ETFs in unprecedented depth along with limitless opportunities to compare to benchmarks, mutual funds and other vehicles already available on the FactSet platform,” said Mark Hale, senior vice president and global director of content operations at FactSet.

Markit’s extensive reference ETF dataset covers all exchange traded products including ETFs, exchange traded notes and exchange traded contracts. It also includes full daily portfolio holdings across all asset classes and over 1,300 analytical calculations to help customers address the performance, liquidity, risk and benchmark tracking metrics from the launch date of each exchange traded product.
