AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has appointed Stéphane Janin as head of global regulatory development. Based in Paris, Stéphane will report to Christian Gissler, global head of risks and controls.

In this newly created role, Stéphane will be responsible for developing AXA IM’s strategy around key regulatory topics as well as leading the firm’s regulatory change programmes on a global basis and managing AXA IM’s relationship with European and international authorities.

“As the pace, scale and complexity of regulatory change continues to increase, it is vital for us as a business to understand and manage the impact of these changes both on our clients and on us as a business," said Christian Gissler, global head of risks and controls at AXA IM.

"Stéphane’s appointment supports our efforts to continually improve our proficiency in risk and controls as part of our value proposition to our clients. Stéphane brings with him extensive experience in global financial regulation and will play a central role in the management of regulatory changes as well as our ongoing relationship with European and international authorities.”

Before joining AXA IM, Stéphane was head of the international affairs division at AFG, the French Asset Management Association, where he was responsible for international regulatory strategy and promotion. During this time Stéphane also held a number of international positions with the International Investment Funds Association, the European Fund and Asset Management Association and the European Commission.

Before joining the AFG in 2005, Stéphane was an advisor to the managing director in charge of strategy and risks at the AMF (Financial Markets Authority, Paris) and a detached national expert, seconded by the French authorities, at the European Commission in Brussels.
