London Stock Exchange Group has appointed Donald Brydon CBE as chairman, effective July 1 2015.

Brydon replaces Dr Chris Gibson-Smith, who announced he would retire in 2014 after 12 years as chairman. Gibson-Smith will step down from the board on July 1, but will remain available to advise the Board until 31 August 2015.

“I am delighted that Donald will be joining the board of London Stock Exchange Group, and succeeding me as chairman. His significant board experience, knowledge of our dynamic industry and his personal qualities will be invaluable to the ambitious, competitive, global Group that our business has now become," said Gibson-Smith.

“It has been an honour and a pleasure to have been Chairman of London Stock Exchange Group at such a pivotal time in its long and esteemed history. The Group has transformed, to become an international market infrastructure organisation, defined by its partnership approach, its clear and focused strategy and its growth.”
