Hermes Investment Management has appointed Patrick Marshall as head of private debt and collateralised loan obligations (CLO).

Marshall's appointment comes as Hermes is looking closely at the potential of leveraged loan, private debt and CLO markets in the UK, Europe and globally. He has been brought in to be responsible for establishing and developing Hermes' business regarding those assets.

Based at the company’s headquarters in London, Marshall will report to Zoe Shaw, head of fixed income.

“Patrick’s extensive experience of the debt markets will play an integral role in building on the strong fixed income and credit capabilities already in place," said Shaw.

"Furthermore, his knowledge and expertise will provide support and insight into the ongoing development of a range of specialist credit capabilities."

Marshall joins from Tikehau Capital where he was a member of the management committee and was responsible for developing the firm’s direct lending activities in London and setting up a CLO program for Tikehau as first time issuer.

He was previously responsible for managing the loan portfolios for the US chapter 11 process of the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy and has experience of setting up a debt management business in London during his work at WCAS Fraser Sullivan Investment Management.
