Credit Suisse opens Dublin dealing desk
Around 100 staff, including 40 trading, risk and capital professionals along with 60 support roles will be based at the branch in Spencer Dock.
Tim O'Hara, chief executive of global markets for Credit Suisse, said the move marks a first for Ireland and Credit Suisse.
“The broad talent pool and efficiencies that the capital city has to offer made the decision to deploy operations in Dublin an easy one,” he said.
"We have long admired Ireland's commitment to and vision for the country's future as a European financial services centre and we are excited to establish our prime services business here."
Ireland’s minister of finance Michael Noonan welcomed the decision by Credit Suisse to become the first third-country bank to set up shop in Ireland.
Changes in legislation that were introduced by the Central Bank in 2013 ensured a level playing field for third-country branches.
