Former Old Mutual CEO to head Source
The former head of Old Mutual Global Investors (OMGI), Julian Ide, has been named as the new chief executive of UK ETF provider Source.
The news comes after a strong 2015 for the firm in which assets under management grew by 26%, reflecting the market’s appetite for ETF products.
Ide, who quit OMGI back in August last year after four years in charge, will take over from Source’s acting chief and president Peter Thompson in mid-April.
He has also held senior roles at several asset management firms, including Credit Suisse Asset Management and Schroder Asset Management.
The hire follows several efforts by Source to expand its team, attempting to capitalise on the asset management industry’s current taste for ETF products.
In February, Source announced 17 promotions across Europe in recognition of its strong growth throughout 2015, and in January it appointed six new country heads across Europe to strengthen its key markets.
In September 2015 it formed a five-strong team to service the UK financial advisory market after growing demand for ETF from UK financial advisors.
