Gillingwater joins Northern Trust’s securities lending team
Former State Street portfolio manager Joseph Gillingwater has joined Northern Trust’s securities lending team.
London-based Gillingwater, who worked at State Street Global Advisors for over a decade, has been appointed as head of fixed income securities lending trading for Northern Trust.
He covers Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific and reports to John Irwin, head of international trading across the same regions.
“We are pleased to appoint Joseph to lead our international fixed income securities lending trading team,” said Irwin.
Sunil Daswani, head of securities lending in EMEA and APAC, added that Gillingwater’s "knowledge and expertise" will be valuable as the business continues to expand.
Speaking to Global Investor/ISF, a Northern Trust spokesperson said that $50bn in new assets has come into the firm's EMEA lending desk since January 2016.
