Ex-Barclays exec to lead Citi's Asia prime brokerage unit
Citi has hired Angus Yang to head its prime brokerage business in Asia following the departure of Joseph Chang, who left the bank in March.
Yang, who joins from Barclays, will become Asia-Pacific head of prime finance at Citi’s Hong Kong office, according to reports citing an internal memo.
The unit provides a range prime brokerages services to hedge funds, including securities lending.
David Russell, Asia-Pacific head of securities services and Adam Herrmann, global head of prime finance, said Yang is joining "at a time of growth and focus on the prime finance business.”
Last year, Citi recruited Herrmann from UBS.
Murray Roos, previously of Deutsche Bank, filled the newly created position of
global head of sales for the prime-finance and equities units.
Simon Kempton also
joined from the German lender to head prime finance for Europe, Middle East and
Africa.
