SFC chief Alder takes top IOSCO role
The head of Hong Kong’s financial regulator has been named chairman of IOSCO, the global standards body for the world's securities industry.
Ashley Alder, chief exec of Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission since 2011, was officially appointed at a meeting in Peru this week.
He has been chair of IOSCO's Asia-Pacific committee for the past three years.
Jean-Paul Servais, chairman of the Financial Services and Markets Authority of Belgium, is the new vice chair; a role also held by Adler.
The new IOSCO’s board has 34 members from around the globe.
The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority and the US Securities and Exchange Commission are notable members.
