Ontario securities regulator names new director
Ontario Securities Commission has appointed Leslie Byberg as executive director and chief administrative officer.
Byberg has held several executive positions at the OSC since
2003, most recently serving as the director of the OSC’s strategy and
operations branch.
Prior to joining the OSC, Byberg was senior counsel of regulation at the Investment Funds Institute of Canada.
OSC’s mandate is to provide protection to investors from
unfair, improper or fraudulent practices and to foster fair and efficient
capital markets and confidence in the capital markets.
“Leslie Byberg is a regulatory leader with over twenty years
of experience in the capital markets and significant securities expertise,”
said Maureen Jensen, Chair and CEO of the OSC.
“I look forward to working in partnership as we move forward
with efforts to modernize capital markets regulation while promoting safe, fair
and efficient markets in Ontario.”
