Global brokerage firm BGC Partners has announced that it will acquire the Sunrise Brokers Group, an independent financial brokerage with extensive experience with worldwide equity derivatives, subject to legal and regulatory approvals.

London-based Sunrise Partners specialises in broking exotic equity derivatives, an area that BGC Partners are keen to expand into.

The move is intended to expand BGC Partners’ equity derivatives offering according to Shaun D. Lynn, president of BGC Partners. He commented: "As a recognized leader in its market segments, Sunrise Brokers is clearly a valuable addition to the BGC family of brands.”

While details of the deal have not been released, Sunrise Brokers generated consolidated revenues of approximately $90 million in the financial year ending 31 December 2015.
