Securities finance veteran Ross Levin has joined fintech firm Pleeco.

Based in New York, he will spearhead business and product development for the start-up.

Previously Levin has built a multi-asset prime brokerage business from ground up at Itau in the US.

The tech expert has also held senior roles at ABN Amro and RBS during his career.

Speaking to Global Investor/ISF, Levin, who set-up his own consulting business Primetech Management last year, described Pleeco’s technology as “unique” and a “new paradigm” for the securities finance market.

Founded in 2013, the start-up's mission is to improve sustainability and resilience of systemically important financial institutions.

Pleeco's platform helps banks, broker-dealers and buy-side firms in optimizing their balance sheet, cash, capital, funding and collateral for multiple constraints and across asset classes and business silos.

The platform is powered by semantic technologies and optimization algorithms.

In basic terms this means it computes financial performance indicators from low level transactional data and charts the best course of action.

Insights are delivered in a "transparent, intuitive and visual way" the company says, using “Information as an Interface" approach to enable quick and dynamic analysis of financial data.

Levin says he will look to build relationships with a range of clients on a global basis.

"We are excited to have Ross Levin join the Pleeco team", said Vitalii Malyshev, Pleeco's chief executive.
