Helena Morrissey steps down as Newton IM chief exec
Helena Morrissey is stepping down as chief executive of Newton Investment Management.
Morrissey, one of the most influential women in the City of London, will be succeeded by Hanneke Smits.
Smits was previously chief investment officer of $27bn private equity firm Adams Street Partners and a member of the firm’s executive committee.
Newton Investment Management, a BNY Mellon subsidiary, was voted equities manager of the year in Global Investor/ISF's annual awards.
Morrissey, who has held the role of chief executive for 15 years, recently spoke to Global Investor/ISF about the firm’s investment strategy.
Despite relinquishing her chief executive duties, she is to become non-executive chairman at the £52bn asset manager.
