Standard Life Investments has announced two additions to its ESG investment team with the hire of Marc Brammer and Sophie Rahm as responsible investment analysts.

The new hires will play important roles in Standard Life’s ongoing efforts to integrate responsible investment considerations with the wider investment process, and will report directly to the firm’s head of responsible investment, Amanda Young. The pair will also liaise with companies on environmental and social issues.

Brammer joins from Inflection Point Capital Management, where he worked as the firm’s senior advisor for research and data management, while Rahm joins the team from her previous role as a ESG analyst for Schroders.

“ESG considerations have grown in importance over the last decade, as more investors become aware of the significance of how human rights, labour, environmental and business ethics impact on corporate conduct,” said Amanda Young.

“We believe that companies concerned about the long-term interests of their shareholders should manage relationships with employees, suppliers and customers, and consider the long-term impact of their actions on the environment and society as a whole.”
