UBS blockchain expert heads to BNY Mellon
Blockchain technology expert Alex Batlin is set to join BNY Mellon.
Batlin left UBS earlier this year after a decade at the Swiss bank where he became the firm’s fintech lead.
He spearheaded the creation of the UBS's innovation lab in Canary Wharf-based accelerator Level39 last year.
Batlin was also UBS's representative at blockchain consortium R3.
BNY Mellon, one of the major US custody banks, has been experimenting with blockchain technology.
Earlier this year the firm reveled it was working with IBM on a new project aimed at using distributed ledgers for securities lending technology.
