Santander Asset Management has hired Adam Harnetty as head of credit research in European fixed income.

He is based in London and reports to Adam Cordery, global head of European fixed income.

Adam Harnetty has worked for major firms including Schroders, Invesco, BNP Paribas, Kleinwort Benson and Ernst & Young. He has worked across the full range of credit asset classes including investment grade, high yield and leveraged loans, and held senior fund manager and analyst positions.

Harnetty is responsible for managing Santander Asset Management’s team of four fixed income analysts, enhancing the credit investment process and supporting stock-selection decisions for the euro and sterling portfolios.

Harnetty’s hiring follows the appointment of David Scammell as senior manager for the Sovereign Bond Fund, and fund manager of Santander Asset Management Government Bond Fund, reporting to Azim Meghji, head of UK fixed income.
