Swift has opened a new office in Mexico City as part of the firm’s growth strategy in Latin America.

Swift is strengthening its presence in Mexico in response to the country’s sustained growth and developing regulatory system.

"The opening of the new office is a significant milestone for our Latin American business. Latin America is an important region for us and our presence in Mexico City underlines Swift‘s confidence in this fast-developing market,” said Chris Church, CEO of Americas at Swift.

Financial messaging in Mexico increased by 15% in 2013 and similar growth is projected for 2014, according to Swift.

Ruben Galindo, director of sales services for Mexico at Swift, will run the Mexico City office, reporting to Jairo Namur, regional manager of Latin America.

Galindo joined Swift in May having previously been regional product head for Latin America at HSBC.

On May 30, Swift will participate in the opening bell ceremony at the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) courtesy of Indeval, Mexico’s central securities depository.
