BCS appoints chief economist

BCS Financial Group (BCS), has hired Dr. Vladimir Tikhomirov as its new chief economist.

This is one of a number of strategic hires that will help develop the Russian brokerage’s offering and provide direction for the business. Tikhomirov will drive strategic decisions at the firm and assist in growing the business.

“Tikhomirov is one of who brings a huge wealth of knowledge about Russian and CIS markets, he will be a great asset to the team and lend his weight to helping BCS grow and mature its research capabilities,” said Joseph Dayan, executive director and head of markets at BCS.

Tikhomirov joins BCS from Otkritie Financial Corporation where he worked as chief economist from 2010. His other positions include the same role at URALSIB Financial Corporation and NIKOIL Brokerage which he joined in 2001.

Prior to his financial career, Tikhomirov spent 20 years in academia, holding a number of posts including director of the Centre for Russian and Euro-Asian Studies and senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne.

He has published five books and over 100 articles.
