Invesco Powershares has hired Kristian Walesby as head of exchange traded fund (ETF) capital markets, Emea.

Walesby's appointment is part of the firm's ongoing programme to expand its team in Europe.

"As the ETF market grows rapidly in Europe, we have been focusing on significantly boosting our team and [Walesby] is our next significant hire to ensure we can make an impact," said Bryon Lake, head of Invesco Powershares, Emea.

He will be responsible for driving Invesco Powershares' capital markets strategy throughout Europe by providing the link to markets and stock exchanges in the region.

Previously Walesby built and developed the capital markets platform globally for ETF Securities. Prior to this, he spent three years as part of the capital markets team for iShares, part of BlackRock.
