Calastone, the global funds transaction network, has appointed James Colquhoun as its new chief financial officer (CFO).

He will develop Calastone’s finance function to promote the company’s growth and ensure the global network brings the right solutions to the funds industry.

Colquhoun was formerly a key member of AOL’s European executive team and acted as CFO for the internet company’s European operations from 2011.

“I am thrilled to be part of the team at Calastone; this is a great business exciting international expansion plans,” said Colquhoun.

He joined AOL from branded video distribution company Goviral, which was acquired by AOL in January 2011. James spent 18 months at Goviral, building its finance division, and was part of the executive team that sold the business to AOL.

Previously held a number of senior finance positions in high-growth international businesses, including group finance director at Mobile Streams, the AIM-listed mobile content specialist and Cinram.
