Citi has hired Murray Roos as global head of sales for its equities and prime finance divisions, a newly created role.

Based in London, Roos will be responsible for developing and implementing Citi's global sales strategy across all equity and prime finance products and will also sit on the global equities executive committee.

Roos will report to Derek Bandeen, global head of equities, Okan Pekin, global head of investor services and Jim O’Donnell, global head of investor sales.

“The addition of Murray is of strategic importance to our businesses as we continuously strive to integrate our offering across Citi’s Markets franchise,” said Pekin.

“This hire reflects Citi’s commitment to attracting the industry’s top talent as well as our focus on growing Citi’s equities franchise through a close partnership with our Investor Service colleagues,” said Bandeen.

Roos joins Citi from Deutsche Bank where he was global co-head of prime finance and co-
head of European equities. He had a variety of other senior positions in his eight years with the bank.

Before Deutsche Bank, Roos ran the Emea index flow trading desk at UBS.

“We are delighted to have Murray on board and believe he will add tremendous leadership as we continue to build on the momentum of our global franchise,” added Jim O’Donnell.

This appointment follows the recent hire of Adam Hermann, who joined Citi from UBS as global head of prime finance.
